Checking online reviews is only one step in vetting a contractor. Below are some additional steps that can be taken to make sure the contractor you’re working with is a reputable one.

The Florida Department of Professional and Business Regulation, aka DBPR, offers a license search for any license type regulated by their department. This includes all construction related licenses. The search is available here. Any contractor stepping foot on your property should be fully licensed, and the license should be updated and current.

WDRC has 2 certified license numbers from the Florida DBPR under our parent company Window & Door Design Center of Florida. Our residential contractors license, CRC1332400, is specific to single family homes. Our specialty Glass and Glazing license, SCC131152223, enables us to do all work required for windows and doors on any type of structure including homes, high-rise condos, and commercial buildings. This means our company is prepared for any project and has expertise in all the relevant Florida Building Codes.

Use a dealer locator search function on the manufacturers website to ensure that the company you are considering is listed. This means they are an authorized dealer in good standing and can honor applicable warranties from the manufacturer. For example, our listing can be found on CGI’s dealer locator here and PGT’s here. If a manufacturer does not have a dealer locator, you can always call to verify that the dealer is an authorized one.

With an accreditation form Better Business Bureau (BBB), a business is guaranteed to have been verified as a registered corporation. BBB also offers customers the opportunity to document complaints against a company. Records of these complaints are not able to be removed once resolved, instead a record of the resolution will remain on the business profile, if applicable. Our BBB profile is located here.

Sites like HomeAdvisor and Angie’s List don’t just offer a way to leave reviews. Because they are created solely for businesses and contractors doing work on homes and businesses, they will not list any business that has not passed license verification as well as a background check. Our Angie’s List profile is here, and our parent company’s HomeAdvisor profile is located here.
