When considering an investment as important as an impact window and door upgrade, it is a smart idea to get quotes from an average of 3 contractors. But how do you choose which contractor is the best fit for you? The cheapest option may not be the best choice and may actually cost you more in the long run. Take the time to review the quotes/contracts and ask yourself and the consultants detailed questions. 

Questions to ask for every quote you receive:  

• Are all the products identical?  

• What labor is included in the contract?  

• Are additional services included (shutter removal, painting, etc)? 

• Is permitting and engineering included? 

• Are there HOA or Building requirements this contractor does not meet (license, insurance, bonding, etc.) 

• What is this contractor’s reputation?  

• Do they have references I can talk to?  

When it comes to impact window and door replacement, choosing a qualified contractor is just as, if not more important as selecting your products. When selecting a contractor for your project, make sure to do the following:  

• Always check that the contractor has an up to date and relevant license. Check the Florida DBPR to verify. If a contractor won’t show a license when you ask, do not move forward with them.  
• Check the terms of their contract to make sure there are no questionable clauses 
• Check to see if they are registered with your city or county and can legally pull building permits in your area 
• Check their online reputation and reviews, including Google ratings and BBB Complaints 
• Check for proper insurance coverage and bonding ability 
• Ask for client references
